James F. Kimmons, Sr., CPA, Senior Partner, and founder of the Eastman-based full service Certified Public Accounting Firm, received his BS degree in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from Georgia Southwestern College and State University.
Jim has been in the accounting industry since 1971. This experience includes three years as a Controller for a Federal grantee prior to entering public accounting; four years experience as audit manager, of which one year was as partner with a multi-office statewide local firm. Jim has been the owner and senior partner of a local CPA firm since 1977. Jim is also a member of the Tax Controversy Team of the firm.
You’ll benefit from these years of experience encompassing a diversity of areas including Accounting, Auditing, Tax Preparation, Tax Mitigation with the IRS and others, Litigation Support for and with Attorneys, and Consultations with other CPA firms and Professionals. Jim also lectures to other professionals throughout the state of Georgia.
Jim has performed peer reviews of other CPA Firms’ accounting and auditing practices both On-Site and Off-Site for PCPS members as well as non-PCPS members throughout the United States. Over the past twenty years, Peer Reviews have been conducted in Alaska, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Jim is an active member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Georgia Society of CPAs, the Government Finance Officers Association and the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association. He has served for twenty years as a member of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Georgia Society of CPAs. Additional Georgia Society of CPA committees that Kimmons served on include the Accounting and Auditing Practice Review Committee, the Federal Legislative subcommittee of the Taxation Committee, and for six years on the On-Site and Off-Site Peer Review Committees.
Jim served a three-year term on the American Institute of CPAs Private Companies Practice Executive Committee (a senior committee of the AICPA charged with the responsibility of overseeing the Private Companies Practice Section). He is also a former AICPA Key Person Contact for the AICPA’s Washington, D.C. office. While serving on the AICPA Private Companies Practice Executive Committee, Mr. Kimmons was Chairman of the TEAM and SET Task Force for the nation.
Among other distinctions, Jim was chosen for Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, 1984-85 Edition; Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, first edition, 1987-88; Who’s Who of Leading American Executives, 1993; Who’s Who of Contemporary Achievement, third edition, 1994; Who’s Who of Honored Professionals, 1997-98; Who’s Who National Registry Life Member, 1998; and the International Who’s Who of Professionals 1999 edition.
Jim is active in civic and professional activities. A native of Eastman, Georgia, he is Past President of the Eastman Rotary Club, Past President of the Dodge County Shrine Club, Past Master of Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge, a member of the Macon Consistency of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Al Sihah Shrine Temple, the Dodge County Chamber of Commerce, and the First Baptist Church of Eastman.
